Westbere Parish Council has written to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s private secretary to convey its sincerest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 09 April 2021. Our sadness at this time is shared by people across the globe, as we remember with affection and gratitude the dedication of His Royal Highness to not only Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, but to the United Kingdom and wider Commonwealth as our longest-serving consort.
Following the steps taken by the Royal Household and In accordance with public health advice, members of the public are asked to continue to follow the current Government guidance, not to gather in crowds, and not to visit Royal residences to pay their respects.
Following the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh we know that many of you will be wanting to pay tribute to him and offer condolences to Her Majesty The Queen at this sad time.
Condolence book
The priority remains to keep everyone safe and, due to the current public health guidelines and lockdown restrictions around COVID-19, KCC will not be providing physical books of condolences at any of their buildings.
Members of the public are encouraged to leave tributes to The Duke of Edinburgh by signing the book of condolence on the website of The Royal Household. You can find the book of condolence at www.royal.uk/

The Royal Household has requested that members of the public do not leave floral tributes or gather in public places to offer their respects. The Palace has suggested that people could donate to charity instead, if they wish to do so.
Organisation of Local Events
The idea of bringing people together within their local communities is no longer possible. Arrangements will be made for this to happen when all movement restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.
