8. The meeting will be adjourned for parishioners’ questions and comments. This is the only opportunity during the meeting for residents to speak. The period for public participation will last no longer than 10 minutes and a single member of the public is afforded no more than 3 minutes to make their representation, with the discretion of the Chairman.

14. Correspondence from a resident re exploring BT Community Fibre Partnershipsto get high speed broadband to more households in the village with Fibre to Cabinet service. FTTP can be supplied to just a small handful of homes or to the entire village but will require a contribution (of £300 to £1,500 per home) from residents interested, although the more people who come on board, the cheaper it will be. Plus, the government’s UK Rural Gigabit Broadband Connectivity Programme pays £3,500 to businesses and £1,500 to homes to help cover the costs.
In order to get a better picture of what it would cost per household, for a £250 fee, Open Reach will conduct a survey. In order for the survey to be completed, we need to have an accurate picture of how many homes would be interested in participating. Once we have a number of genuinely interested parties, the survey will be completed and we will have a better idea of the options.
TO CONSIDER that low broadband speeds already diminish property values and that that is an effect that is only likely to be magnified by the growth of home working and likely technological developments, which will be bound to require higher speeds for new services.
If supportive TO RESOLVE to advertise with a leaflet drop to all households in the same way that the parish council delivers the newsletter – and put notices on the noticeboards
And TO RESOLVE to pay £250 for the BT survey.
15. Website hosting
TO NOTE that KCC as existing website host has agreed that due to COVID-19 their hosting service can be extended to Sunday 1 November 2020. The migration date to the new hosting provider Cantium Services is awaited.
16. Possible lengthening of the Sturry train station platforms:
TO NOTE a letter was sent to Sir Roger Gale MP on 12 August 2020 seeking his support ahead of a letter to the Secretary for Transport, Grant Shapps, that the Sturry station be included in the East Kent Resignalling Scheme phase 3 – and TO NOTE that Sir Roger Gale has acknowledged this and agreed to raise this with the Secretary for Transport in September when Parliament resumes.
