Village plans for the King’s Coronation

The following is posted on behalf of the Westbere Village Preservation Society:

         THE CORONATION

Updating our recent newsletter, we can now confirm that coronation celebrations in Westbere will be focussed on The Yew Tree, which will open on Saturday in time to show the ceremony on a large screen. This will be followed by an afternoon barbecue with fun and entertainment running into the evening – games, karaoke, open mike etc.  Lunch will be available on Sunday – booking recommended – and there will be a quiz in the evening with a coronation theme. The pub  will be open on Monday for lunch.

The WVPS now plans to postpone the idea of organising the churchyard clearance on Monday – which has been designated National Clear up Day  –  on the grounds that they would like to resurrect this activity on a more permanent basis later in the year, hopefully with plenty of volunteers. Meanwhile if folk want to engage in some tidying up on Monday, they might consider clearing litter and/or dead leaves in the lanes or cleaning nearby noticeboards or street signs.
