Every household should have received a letter about the Community Governance Review triggered by Westbere residents and supported by the Westbere Village Preservation Society, being undertaken by CCC, for the Bread and Cheese Field, currently in Hersden parish since the boundary changes took effect in 2019. Historically of course it was previously in Westbere.
Public consultation runs until 20 May 2024 asking “Should the parish boundary for Westbere be moved to incorporate the Bread and Cheese Field site?”
This is a reminder that Canterbury City Council will run a drop-in style consultation event in Westbere Village Hall between 6pm-8pm on Tuesday 09 April 2024 for residents to learn more about the community governance review boundary consultation.
If you can’t make the Westbere event you may visit the Chislet Colliery Welfare Club (Hersden) on Monday 15 April 2024, 6pm-8pm
The consultation responses will then be analysed and recommendations to the General Purposes Committee in September and a decision made by full council in October 2024.

NB.The Community Governance Review is for a boundary change only – its inclusion as a strategic housing site in the next draft Local Plan is a separate process: You may view the New Regulation 19 Draft Canterbury District Local Plan to 2040 . Consultation on the Local Plan runs until 5pm on 03 June 2024. The Bread and Cheese Field is still a chosen strategic site. The Transport Strategy confirms that the lengthening of the platforms at Sturry will also be included.
