KCC Community Warden Service – new from January 2025
Kent County Council has restructured its Community Warden Service, and under their GAP (Geographical Allocation Policy,) KCC Community Wardens have been allocated new areas. From January 2025 Roger Lithgow will be working in our area.
Roger will aim to be working 2.5 days per week in the Sturry Ward, based in Sturry Library, working within the villages of the Sturry Ward. For the remaining 2.5 days a week he will be working within the Nailbourne Ward, based at the Barham Village Hall, and doing the same. Where work commitments allow he will be aiming to spread his time evenly between the two wards, but the wardens’ work is varied and subject to sudden and unexpected changes, which may require him to work within another Ward for a longer period of time, to meet community needs.
Booking resident appointments
When booking appointments with residents Roger plans to book them on the days he will be working in the Ward, but he is contactable by mobile phone to discuss an issue if the matter is more urgent and cannot wait. Residents can either visit his base or arrange a home visit or elsewhere which is mutually acceptable.
Referrals by organisations
Any referrals require the referrer to contact the Canterbury and Thanet Team Leader: Aaron Kluibenschadl, and he will email a form to the referrer for them to complete and return, once he receives the completed form, the Team Leader will review it, and if it meets attendance criteria a further risk assessment will be done before considering allocation to a Community Warden. Parish Council Meetings
Roger will aim to attend Parish Council meetings when possible, on a rota basis due to the number of Parish Councils which are within the Wards of Nailbourne and Sturry. Roger will also aim to email a monthly warden report, showing work undertaken.
From January 2025, Roger is also mentoring a new KCC Community Warden who will be working in the Little Stour Ward, this will require him to be with her up to a couple of months and they will be working on each other wards until she is familiar with the role requirements and KCC Community Warden Service are happy for Roger to step back.
